The States will abandon its policy of forcefully Unitedpromoting democracy in the world, U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said during a briefing on the country's foreign policy.
"We will not impose democracy using costly military operations. In addition, the U.S. will give up trying to overthrow authoritarian regimes by force," Blinken said.
According to the foreign policy chief, past attempts by Washington to act this way, despite good intentions, have not yielded the desired results.
"We will act differently: promote democracy by setting our own example to other countries and rewarding our partners for democratic change," the secretary of state added.
