Synergy is a corporate buzz word we have all encountered in some way on the job. It is a prominent component of "bullshit bingo" and was a mainstay of the 1990's. How can we use this concept in it's intended form and help the community succeed in new media content production? What is synergy and how can we apply it to new social media? Synergy is defined as: the interaction or cooperation of two or more organizations, substances, or other agents to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects. When multiple dapps on the blockchain interact or multiple community building efforts are implemented we have individual and community success. Consider the syngergy between the Steemit dapps actifit and partiko. Both dapps are used on a cellphone or tablet and offer the user an easy way to interact with the blockchain. If someone is using both they may be outside, see something of note and post content to Steemit, while accumulating steps on their actifit dapp. The synergy is encouraging users to be out in the world and easily patch outside information into the blockchain. Consider also the synergistic effect of curation and posting and commenting on technical expertise. Curation is essential to community building. Technical content should be encouraged by the efforts of curation and thoughful content.
