Potential is Greater than Your Past- Keep Pushing

"Consult not your fears but your hopes and your dreams. Think not about your frustrations, but about your unfulfilled potential. Concern yourself not with what you tried and failed in, but with what it is still possible for you to do."
-Pope John XXIII
Memories of the past may haunt us. Our regrets, fears, failures, lost loves and lost opportunities can stifle us and muddle our motivation. As a human, we try and fail, but don't let past regrets and failures derail you.
I can remember looking at Amazon stock on 2009. The price had fallen to $5, and I had a brokeridge account with $1,000 at the time. Had I bought 200 shares of AMZN then, my life would be full of riches now. My past oversight of the potential I had squandered haunts me from time to time. It is an embarassment. I also had the opportunity to buy a condo on Capital Hill in Seattle for $200,000 that is now worth $550,000. Another embarassing tale.
My past failures do not keep me from my potential. I am happy now. I have taken note of these missteps and am focusing on what I can do in the future. The next Amazon is germinating somewhere.
Some strategies for overcoming your past and focusing on your future are below:
1. Don't compare yourself with others. Your journey is unique.
2. Take stock of your current situation. Are you where you want to be? What can you do today to move to your desired station in life?
3. Be happy with what you have. I have a beautiful wife, a strong son, a house and I am blessed. Life is very good!
4. Seek mentors to help you on your way. Replicate their success.
5. Focus on building concrete skills now. Missed opportunities could be due to a lack of in-demand skills.
Keep on pushing! Don't let yesterday keep your trapped and focus on today.
