As a business person, you will be inundated with word soup in meetings, the field and in your cubicle. As a leader, it is your job to inspire and move your partners to achieve success. Success does not happen overnight. Long periods of underperformance and competition with rival firms can sap the strength from the heartiest of teams. As a leader, you muat inspire your team through actions and executed plans. A leader is always watched by his teammates, coworkers and vendors. A leader must be decisive and have excellent soft skills in communication and diplomacy. When you enter a department, locate the leader and use his expertise in skill and his relationships to forge a new alliance. Leaders can make or break an agreement. A leader is different than a manager. Managers implement and execute company policy and report metrics. Leaders inspire their reports to the next level of performance and build bridges between departments to forge partnerships.
