To minimize wastage and to add value for the customer in business processes. Philosophy @ Toyota.
Hi all 🇰🇭🇰🇭🇰🇭☘🍀☘🍀
Would like to share this with you: a bout LEAN. In the oversea continents this methode has been applied for large scale companies and does have really good effects for them to manage the whole costs contruction and production.
In this article the Lean method is explained in a practical way. After reading you understand the basics of this powerful quality management tool
What is Lean?
The English term Lean manufacturing literally means slim production. The lean method comes from the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota. Toyota monitors the relationship between high and good quality production at low costs, which leads to an improvement in the operating result. Sometimes the Lean method is also called Toyota Production System (TPS).
This management philosophy focuses on stopping and eliminating Muda, the Japanese expression for waste. Everything Muda does not provide added value.
This management philosophy is wrongly seen as a Japanese method. But Lean method is largely based on British and American principles (Henry Ford and W. Edwards Deming), which were distributed and imported after the Second World War in Japan with the help of American reconstruction work. TPS was largely developed by Sakichi Toyoda, the founder of Toyota and was further developed by engineer Shigeo Shingo. By applying TPS, Toyota succeeded in reducing costs and thus becoming the top ten multinationals. TPS is a classic example of the Gemba Kaizen approach by Masaaki Imai, which focuses on improving production.
Common goal
Many established methods are used in the Lean method. All these methods have in common that they focus on identifying problem points, eliminating unnecessary process steps, combining multiple process steps in one step and solving and preventing the problem areas. Lean method is also symbolically referred to as a house, which is on a stable foundation and is built up from all those established methods.
Base
The basis of the Lean method is formed by a multifunctional team that assesses the materials used and the process beforehand. This team consists of various employees, from production and research to accountants. They have the task of calculating the costs in advance of all process steps, so that it is clear where the most profit can be achieved. In their assessment decisions on make-or-buy or reengineering are considered.
Organizations
Especially Toyota is fully committed to this method, which means that Toyota has built up a big advantage over competitors in terms of cost control. In addition to Toyota, there are several other multinationals that use the Lean method successfully; General Motors, Scania and Volkswagen are examples of this. In addition, there are more and more large (production) companies that switch to the Lean method.
The Lean method has three times Mu
Within the Lean method, three main categories are distinguished, all starting with 'Mu':
Muri
Muri means unevenness in demand; overcrowding of production and stock due to poor coordination of (customer) demand.
Mura
Mura means unevenness in the process; over-production in production due to poor coordination in the measurement of production resources.
Muda
Muda means wastes; all activities that do not add value for the customer. Within the Lean method, eight different types of waste are distinguished in the Muda section: defects, production, transport, waiting times, storage, movements and movements, doing more than is necessary, unused creativity and capacity.
Benefits
A big advantage of the Lean method is the relationship between cost savings and improvement of productivity and quality. All the energy and creativity of an organization in the Lean method is aimed at optimizing the aspects that are valuable to the customer. These include price, quality, delivery time, maintenance costs and environmental impact. In addition, internal factors such as safety, occupational hygiene and
ergonomics often also improve.
Cons
Because an organization fully focuses on improving the existing product with the Lean method, the chance of discovering innovative, new techniques decreases. In addition, the introduction of a successful system requires far-reaching preparations, while the results are not immediately noticeable in the short term. Moreover, it is often underestimated that changing from short-term thinking to long-term thinking for employees takes a lot of time and effort.
Characteristics LEAN

· More accountability and competence at
the base of an organization

Think of the 4P's:
Philosophy stands for thinking in the long term. It is not about the fast and fleeting changes. Lean asks for a dot on the horizon.
Process is the elimination of waste in the business processes. The optimal (re) design and continuous improvement, where the value for customers and employees always comes first.
People and partners means that employees, management and suppliers must learn the Lean philosophy. Everyone is involved in the search for opportunities for improvement, including the parties that an organization cooperates with.
Problem solving underscores that a company not only discovers opportunities for improvement, but that something really happens with those discoveries.
In my opinion: Lean focuses on minimizing waste and on adding value to the customer in business processes. A company is truly Lean when it thinks and acts in the interests of the customer, everywhere and always.

Hopefully this could apply for you🌐🍀🗼🗽🇰🇭
