Argentina won the Qatar World Cup under Lionel Scaloni. Coach Scaloni is the hero of Argentina's World Cup victory as the third coach after Cesar Luis Menotti in the 1978 World Cup and Carlos Bilardo in the 1986 World Cup.

Argentina Football Association President Claudio Tapia has decided to renew the contract with Coach Scaloni, who gave Argentina the World Cup.
Argentina ended their 36-year title drought under Scaloni, who was criticized when Messi took over in 2018.
The president of the Argentine Football Association said, "Scaloni is the coach of the Argentine national team. Word of mouth is valuable to both of us. We agreed on that. He has now gone to Spain to deal with one of his children's passports. When he returns, we will sit together and talk, as we said till yesterday.'
Reminiscing that appointing Scaloni as coach was not an easy matter, Tapia said, 'During the 2019 Copa America, Menotti told me to keep him until the end of the World Cup. That's what we did. But when we hired him, 99 percent of people thought it was a bad decision or we were crazy. And this appointment has brought joy back to people with three trophies.
He also said, 'Argentina team has the best coaching staff in the world. We have the best players in the world in our team, who were treated badly. Sometimes the pettiness of others does not allow us to recognize what we have and why. A big part of our success has come because of the captain.
