A controversial new law that would prevent tech companies from firing politicians was passed by both chambers in the Florida legislature. The bill now needs to be signed by Trump ally Governor Ron DeSantis. Donald Trump was banned by Twitter and suspended by Facebook and YouTube following the deadly Capitol Hill riots in January. Donald Trump has spent most of his time in Florida since leaving office and is believed to be close with Mr. DeSantis, as well as other high-ranking Florida Republicans.
In February, Mr. DeSantis said Big Tech «has come to look more like Big Brother». The bill includes a clause that allows Disney to be exempted from this bill, exempting a company that «owns and operates a theme park or entertainment complex». Florida is home to the Disney World theme park. «If Facebook buys a theme park, does that prevent us from editing what's happening on Facebook?» Asked Andrew that he was a Democratic member of the Florida House of Representatives.
