Host Mark Levin, whose show draws over a million viewers, asked the Harvard-educated economist, author and techno-enthusiast to explain blockchain. Gilder, the author of Life After Google: The Fall of Big Data and the Rise of the Blockchain Economy, broke down why he believes Google and Facebook will eventually bow and dissolve, along with centralized data stored in the cloud, as they get eviscerated by the “cryptocosm”– a new architecture for the internet. “A blockchain is an immutable database distributed across the internet. Rather than have all your data in some big data warehouse in the cloud, as they call it, instead, all the data is distributed across all the nodes of the network, so that any hacker who hacks one computer can gain nothing except what’s in that particular computer. Because the information is distributed across the network, you have to capture 51 percent of all the nodes on the network in order to defraud the network.”
