Mexican club Pumas UNAM has canceled the contract with Brazilian star footballer Dani Alves, who was arrested on sexual harassment charges. This was reported by the popular football website Gold.com.

Alves is accused of touching a woman without permission at a nightclub in Barcelona, Spain on December 30. A judicial investigation is underway in Spain against the former Barcelona star.
After Alves went to the Barcelona police station to testify on Friday morning, he was detained by the police after questioning.
Alves, who denied the allegations from the beginning, will now be taken to court. He has a record of winning 43 titles in his international and club career.
His club Pumas announced the cancellation of Alves' contract shortly after his arrest.
In a statement, the president of the club, Leopoldo Silva, said that any act that goes against the spirit and values of the club will not be accepted by any of the club's footballers.
The club had a contract with the Brazilian defender until June 2023. He has played 13 matches so far. Assisted 5 goals but did not score any goals.
