This movement became very monumental and became an inspiration to give birth to a similar movement in Malaysia recently, with the nickname 812. The main driving force of the mass movement is none other than Habib Rizieq Syihab. He is the central leader of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), a leading mass organization and pioneer of advocacy for the rights and fate of Muslims in Indonesia. How this mass Islamic movement 212 metamorphosed from childhood to become a political group that is very calculated like today, let's continue the description. The seeds of the mass movement have long been sown by FPI. And this is just waiting for momentum. When the traditional and marginal FPI base joined the heterogeneous elements of the urban Muslim community, a large mass was born 212. The birth process is certainly time consuming and the process of thickening is not easy and not short. Mass consolidation has been going on since the emergence of Ahok as the Deputy Governor of DKI who is seen as riding Jokowi on the altar of power. FPI and FBR are the most prominent elements that reject Ahok in the DKI administration with reasons that could threaten the future of Islam in the capital. Ahok was actually nominated in pairs with Jokowi to become a candidate for deputy governor of DKI by the Gerindra Party and PDIP. It is ironic when Gerindra is in coalition with FPI to challenge Jokowi in the 2019 Presidential Election. When the Jokowi-Ahok pair won the 2012 Pilgub, the FPI has reacted to the perceived anxiety of the implications of Ahok's rise. FPI began to launch a rejection. The 2012 Jakarta Governor and Deputy Governor General Election itself was held on Wednesday, July 11, 2012 and Thursday, September 20, 2012.  The FPI is increasingly convinced that Ahok is only the entrance to shift the existing political order, where the position of the majority of Muslims in the political map will be overhauled. The more obvious, when Jokowi relinquished his position as Governor of DKI and advanced as a Presidential Candidate. That means strengthening FPI's suspicious views so far that Jokowi - Ahok is only a conspiracy package to marginalize the political position of Muslims. The suspicion was grounded and was also supported by social unrest which was increasingly uncomfortable for groups of Muslims who were in FPI advocacy. The 2014 General Election of the President and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia (abbreviated as the 2014 Presidential Election) was held on 9 July 2014. On 22 July 2014, Jokowi was elected President of the Republic of Indonesia. Ahok also rose smoothly to become Acting Governor of DKI, until finally he was sown as the definitive full governor with the Deputy Governor from the PDI-P Blitar, Djarot. Along with that, the FPI's resistance was getting stronger and harder. Campaigns for the threat of oligarchy and tyranny of minorities are increasingly echoing in society. Some of the events of the FPI's resistance and its supporters towards Ahok which initiated a series of actions until the birth of the movement 212 can be referred to here, namely, the emergence of the Jakarta Community Movement chaired by KH. Fahrurrozi Ishaq. This GMJ is an embryo of the Muslim Governor's movement for Jakarta which successfully metamorphosed into the MUI GNPF which became the backbone of the mass movement 212. At that time, Chairman of the Jakarta Community Movement (GMJ) KH. Fahrurrozi Ishaq stressed that all elements of the Muslim community, including mass organizations and Betawi figures, rejected Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok as the Governor of DKI Jakarta. The well-known Betawi cleric revealed that the Jakarta people were rejecting Ahok because of his arrogant act. > "All this time, what is considered as rejecting Ahok is only FPI and FUI, it turns out that all organizations in Jakarta, the Betawi organization, specifically 99%, reject Ahok because of his arrogant behavior, because of his bad character, who is immoral with his words," The stronger the rejection of society, Ahok instead of loosening, even more violent. He is often challenging, making fun of him and saying he is not publicly reassuring. As a result, the rejection was even more profound. KH. Fahrurrozi Ishaq was then appointed as the Jakarta Governor of the people's choice on Monday, December 1, 2014. This was a frontal way to deal with Ahok's authority as well as a way to undermine his public legitimacy. Located in front of the DKI Jakarta DPRD building, KH. Fahrurrozi Ishaq, who is familiarly called Bang Rozi, also delivered his oath of office. "In order to uphold the truth and destroy injustice, I accept this mandate. Therefore I ask all members of the DKI Jakarta DPRD that the wishes of the people of Jakarta be considered, use the right of interpretation, the right of inquiry as soon as possible to reduce Ahok, "said Bang Rozi, welcomed by thousands of Muslims who held a peaceful protest. Until then Ahok decided to advance in the DKI regional election. Behind Ahok, openly President Jokowi, the Metro Jaya Police Chief, Inspector General of Police Tito Karnavian, supported Ahok to advance as the governor of DKI. Meanwhile, it seems that the conglomerates, mostly ethnic Chinese, also fully support Ahok. Plus, in general, non-Muslims and the mass media. At the same time NU officials such as Kyai Agil Siradj and Nusron Wahid also stood on Ahok's side. Then hardened political conflict at the mass level. The author was told by KH. Meanwhile, the Muslim Governor for Jakarta also held a Muslim governor's convention. This Convention is massive socialized. Every alley is emblazoned with the Muslim Governor's banner for Jakarta. This movement was driven by Habib Rizieq Syihab, Al-Khatthat, KH. Khalil Ridwan, KH. Abdullah Rasyid Syafi'i, etc. It can be concluded, these two groups are the forerunners of the MUI GNPF forming elements that have successfully mobilized and consolidated the Muslim masses, both on October 14, 2016, November 14, 2016 at the Istiqlal Mosque, as well as December 2, 2016 at Monas. The Muslim mass movement campaign was a huge success, not only in terms of mass gathering which reached millions, but also in terms of the target of thwarting Ahok as the Governor of DKI. Now, the target has been reached. Just how to optimize the achievements so that the elected governor can fulfill the historical mandate of the mass movement. Some that are still needed is to ensure and guarantee the role of Muslim masses remains a determinant in any political change. That role can only be enjoyed when the Muslim masses increase their economic, political and professional degrees so that they are less dependent on other parties. The Muslim masses, with the presence of their chosen governor, should be able to help ensure their economic, political and socio-cultural independence, so that they do not repeatedly experience the fate of before.
