Hello Sereyans. Time to meditate on the 2 Kings 6:1-7

An Axhead Floats

6 The company of the prophets said to Elisha, “Look, the place where we meet with you is too small for us. 2 Let us go to the Jordan, where each of us can get a pole; and let us build a place there for us to meet.” And he said, “Go.” 3 Then one of them said, “Won’t you please come with your servants?” “I will,” Elisha replied. 4 And he went with them. They went to the Jordan and began to cut down trees. 5 As one of them was cutting down a tree, the iron axhead fell into the water. “Oh no, my lord!” he cried out. “It was borrowed!” 6 The man of God asked, “Where did it fall?” When he showed him the place, Elisha cut a stick and threw it there, and made the iron float. 7 “Lift it out,” he said. Then the man reached out his hand and took it.

As we cruise to the final lap of our life stretch, I have this short message to share. As pastors and men of women of God, we have often read and preached this scripture. It is one of the most interesting topics of the time.

There is one point, however, I need you link with this chapter. In the fifth chapter of this book of 2 Kings, we see the story of Naaman and how he was healed of leprosy which disturbed him for long. Perhaps, we also have our own leprosy which disturbs us in our entire church ministry. We need to be rid of such diseases in order to live a pure life. This is however a topic for another day.

My main point in pointing to this 5th chapter is the EVIL which had dwelt in the house of God in the name of Gehazi, prophet Elisha's servant. This evil was like a wolf in a goat's skin. It was the evil of amassing wealth. The most important thing is the evil was removed when he inherited Namaan's leprosy.

As soon as the evil was removed, is when the company of prophets saw there was a need to expand their church. They went out to cut wood without realizing there was a person with a borrowed axe. It was only when it fell into the water that they realized it was borrowed. Luckily enough, they had gone with the man of God, not to work, but carry God's presence with them.

5 important points I share today.

1. We have to get rid of the evil in our churches. It is not by force but through prayer and rebuking. We cannot move forward with Gehazi's running to take the loot which the man of God rejected. 
2. In whatever we do, God's eyes are there with us. They see the lies which we spread. They hear every word you mention in your heart. They follow you when you go after possessions which does not belong to you. 
3. We have been commissioned to expand our churches to accommodate more people. We have been commissioned to know Christ and let him be known by others Matt 28:16-20. We need to grow our congregations spiritually, economically and in numbers. 
4. We have in our midst people with borrowed axes. The spirit they have is borrowed. We need to equip them to return the borrowed and acquire their own. When you get your own axe, guard the head so that it doesn't fall off. 
5. God should be going with us wherever we go. He is the one to save us from embarrassment and shame. He will make our borrowed axes to float. He will bless us. He will see our work is successful.                          Let's pray Father almighty, maker of all things including heaven and Earth, I humbly request you to restore us. Make us strong in faith and may your spirit abide in us always. Save us from evil and redeem us. May you be with us forever and ever more. For it is in Jesus, I do pray and trust. Amen
