Thisis Meshack Bwoyele Keya from Kenya with great love to all Sereyans including the new people. I joined Serey on 27th April 2020 when Serey decided to go international and used English in its publication. Here is my story

A frail child was born of two peasant farmers. There were no hospitals near in those days and delivery was either done in a bush or in the house. This particular baby boy was born in a bush. The mother had no midwife and she did the midwifery herself. This boy was born 5th in a family of six.

At an early age, the boy developed many fancy diseases including jiggers on his body. He was destined to die a fact her mother harbored in her breast for long. She nicknamed the boy, 'Nzunzu.' This name meant ' a passing cloud' and defined the destiny of the child. He was destined to die.

Yet the boy lived on. Poverty was printed all over their home and it was when the boy was nine years that he joined school in class one. Despite poverty, being dirty with tagged clothes, the boy proved to be very intelligent and was soon top of the class, a position he held till he left school.

Schooling to him was not a bed of roses as he was frequently sent home for school fees which wasn't much at that time. Determination however, made the boy struggle in primary school and was later admitted to Vihiga High School. His predicament did not end there. He was a dayscholar and he went for three years without shoes. Being sent home for fees doubled now as the payment had magnified greatly.

When he wore his first shoes was when a good Samaritan helped him with a secondhand pair. The boy was as happy as a king yet he pondered where he will be getting shoe polish for his shoes. That was the time he painted the shoes with alluminium paint. He was the only one with ''iron shoes' in the school. This made him a laughingstock in the whole school. He was nicknamed 'Iron Shoes.' Her mother was determined to see the boy through secondary Education. Many were the times she trecked 30 kilometres to go and beg money to pay his school fees. The boy's father was employed as a watchman and with his meagre salary, he passed the boy through secondary Education. He did not perform so we'll well as expected but he got a certificate that took him to a teacher training institution.

'Nzunzu' graduated as a teacher and he became one of the best primary teachers in his country. Nzunzu became a drama enthusiastic and produced several plays which performed very well in National Drama Festivals. He also wrote poetry and many of his poems also won in the festivals.

Later, Nzunzu resigned from teaching and became a full-time farmer and pastor to a home church. The person who was to die earlier is a published writer, a crypto currency trader and sells BF SUMA products thus helping the sick.

My fellow writers, that in short is my introductory post.
