I have kept a tab on the Nations League since it's the ongoing most competitive match happening in the football world but it baffles me why the big boys in the competition aren't doing as expected.
Matchday four is currently on and it is surprising to know that the likes of France and England haven't won a single match in the competition so far, the French side lost to Croatia at home yesterday and I was shocked to the bone because it doesn't make sense to me anymore.
Yesterday was the first time Croatia defeated France and it looks like they aren't even willing to come to the competition initially, the best result they have gotten from the competition is a draw. They started the competition on a bad ground losing to Denmark but it looked like things didn't just go their way in that particular match, they stepped against Croatia in the first leg and it ended in a draw. The result was very much understandable because Croatia isn't a side that can be underrated and things got twisted when they went on to play another draw against Austria in their third match.
Losing against Croatia would strip them of the opportunity to progress to the next round of the competition and they just threw it in the trash. They lost by a goal to Croatia, it was an early goal from the spot-kick and Modric stepped up to convert it into a goal.
France dominated the match and played 17 shots, but only 4 were on target and still didn't get a goal to squeeze even a point out of the match. Many might not pay attention to it but their journey is officially over in the competition and they might end up being relegated if they do nothing to get out of the fourth position they are sitting in.
Surprisingly, the French players couldn't get the job done despite their achievements across the world. Congratulations to Croatia, even though they are sitting second behind Denmark. With two matches left, they sure have the hope of still grabbing a ticket to the next round of the competition if they win their remaining matches.
