The football world experienced a sensational performance last night as Rangers and Frankfurt went head to head for the Uefa Europa league trophy in Spain.
It wasn't a new atmosphere for Frankfurt, I remembered them traveling to Barcelona in one of the knockout rounds where they unbelievably dumped the Spanish giant out of the competition. Somehow the Frankfurt fans dominated the stadium, they came out in large numbers to cheer the German side and they did return to Germany with the joy of winning the title.
It wasn't their first time winning the title even though it's been ages since they last won it, the Bundesliga team would be happy to have a mark in the football world in the 2021/22 season. The Scottish team hasn't tasted the glory even though they have gotten so close to the title on several occasions, they were so close this time but a single-player ruined their chances of winning the title.
Aaron Ramsey can't be blamed for the team's loss even though he was expected to score the penalty kick just like the other players, it could have been anyone. I remembered Sadio Mane losing his penalty kick in the FA Cup final against Chelsea but Chelsea didn't utilize the chance and ended up losing the title to Liverpool.
Any player could have lost the penalty, it was disappointing and he has to live with the pain for some time. Rangers manager, Van Bronckhorst did an incredible job with the team. His future is secured with the club and it looks like he is going to achieve a lot with the club which includes more than winning the league title.
Rangers did a great job, it would have been great if there was a medal for the second place. They deserve a huge commendation for their outstanding performance, I hope they find the strength to carry on with this form in the coming season.
It ended 1 - 1 at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium, and the match extended into extra time. A winner must emerge and this led to a penalty shootout and Frankfurt took the glory.
