Maradona's daughters to sue aunt over 'Maradona brand'

Diego Maradona has been dead for more than four years! The legendary footballer left football and the world on November 25, 2020. The San Isidro Court in Buenos Aires is investigating whether there was any other reason behind his departure.

Eight doctors were involved in Maradona's treatment during his last days. Maradona's two daughters, Dalma and Giannina, filed a lawsuit against seven of them, accusing them of medical negligence. The trial is ongoing based on their allegations. Argentine lawyer Fernando Berlando is fighting for the plaintiff in court. On a TV show last Tuesday, the lawyer said, "Maradona was murdered, he was treated like an animal."

With Berlando's explosive comments still lingering, Claudia, the youngest of Maradona's five sisters, claimed that Maradona sometimes refused to seek treatment because of his strong personality. Two of the plaintiffs, Maradona's two sisters Claudia and Ana, testified in court on Thursday. Claudia said, "My brother sometimes expressed reluctance to seek treatment. This was mainly because of his strong personality." Another sister, Ana, told the court, "Actually, he did what he wanted."

The two sisters also said that one of the defendants in the case, neurosurgeon Leopoldo Luc, was a trusted doctor of Maradona. In addition, several witnesses told the court that the house where Maradona died did not have an ambulance or appropriate medical equipment, such as a defibrillator (a special device for normalizing the heart rate).

A week before Maradona's death, sister Ana went to see him at a clinic in Olivos. She then inquired about Maradona's health. That same day, Maradona told her sister about chest pains. Another sister, Rita, also testified on Thursday. He told the court that his daughters (Dalma and Giannina) usually made all decisions regarding Maradona's health.

When Maradona fell ill, Dalma allegedly assured Maradona's two sisters that the Argentine legend would not be neglected. They said that they would take care of their father's health, but Maradona's daughters told their aunts, "You don't have to worry about it (Maradona's illness). We are old enough to understand. We will take care of our father's health."
