The challenges facing Brazil without Neymar

After a long break, the South American World Cup qualifiers are about to begin again. On Friday morning, Bangladesh time, Latin giants Brazil will play against Colombia. Brazil, one of the biggest teams in world football, is currently going through a difficult time. They have not found their rhythm since their elimination from the quarterfinals of the 2022 Qatar World Cup. There was also a long-standing tension over the appointment of a coach.

After various dramas, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) finally appointed Darival Junior last year. However, the new coach has not yet shown anything to be optimistic about. Under Darival, Brazil was eliminated from the Copa America quarterfinals.

And they have not done very well in the World Cup qualifiers either. Due to one failure after another, Brazil is currently ranked 5th out of 10 teams. Brazil has 18 points in 12 matches. In such a situation, Brazil will start a new chapter from tomorrow with the goal of securing a ticket to the 2026 World Cup. However, Brazil will face several challenges in this chapter.

One of Brazil's biggest worries right now is Neymar. Fit Neymar is Brazil's biggest and most important star. This forward can still single-handedly crush any opponent on his best day. But the 'fit Neymar' thing is now like a myth. Neymar has suffered one injury after another since the Qatar World Cup. He was even out of the field for 16 months before returning to the Brazil team a few days ago. But that return was not complete either.
