Saudi Arabia and Malaysia are not playing safe. South Asian Football Federation (SAF) officials were hoping to increase competition in the biggest tournament in South Asia. Finally, another country in the Middle East, Kuwait, has come forward to fulfill their expectations. This was confirmed by the General Secretary of SAFF, Anwarul Haque Helal.

 In his words, 'Sri Lanka is not able to play because of FIFA's ban. Hence, Kuwait has agreed to play as the seventh team in the SAFF Championship to begin on June 21 in Bengaluru, India. They said that their national team will come. Although Kuwait's ranking is behind India (106) (143). He added, 'We are looking for another team. For this reason, contact is being made with several countries including the Philippines and Syria. On May 6, SAFF Congress will finally inform how many teams will be this year's SAFF Championship.
