Increasingly, the population of Bangladesh is increasing day by day. Along with this, food demand is increasing. The amount of agricultural land is not increasing, but rather decreasing. To provide more population and other needs, agricultural land is also being developed in the fields of housing, industrial, building.
Farmers of our country have developed a special floating farming method to cater to the increasing food requirements of the population. Floating farming method also refers to agricultural method or bed farming method.
Though the floating farming system is hundreds of years old, it has expanded for the last three decades in different parts of the country. In this method, the first cultivation begins in the low-lying and bili areas of the Pirojpur district of Barisal region, which is known as the storehouse of Bangladesh. Then this floating farming system has become popular in the lower regions of the country, falling areas, saline areas and haor areas. Hydroponic method is called scientifically on the float cultivation method, on the beds made from cucuepapa, topopana, dulali lata, shawla, and many other aquatic plants on the water without soil.[source](http://www.krishibangla.com/krishibangla/uploads/userfiles/images/10394473433_b0cf5713b7_b.jpg)
How to Prepare the Steps / Steps:
Bamboo and rope-tied steps and floating seedbed are made from two to three feet thick, in a variety of different aquatic plants, including Kachuripana, Topaapana, Dulali Lata, Kalamilata, Shawla. A little urea manure is used to speed up the step. After 7-10 days it is left to knead. One floating step bed is 50-60 meters (150-180 feet) long and 1.5 meters wide (5-6 feet) wide and about 1 meter (2-3 feet) thick seed bed is made. Many steps have been tied to a hard bamboo stack so that the steps do not go out. Again, many surrounded by a thin mesh around.
Then, on that step saplings of different vegetables or saplings are sown
Process of seedling / stepping of seedlings
After transferring germinate plants into mature chunks it takes 20-22 days. After 5-6 days, after pulling soft cucurbat and shawl from the bottom of the floating step, Daula is spread out in the beginning. It helps in providing nutrients to mature and healthy charans. Then every day the water is lighted every day so that The plants do not dry, the plants are fresh. Thus after the one month service, the plants are suitable for sale.
Production of crops from seedlings:
Once the plants are grown, in the 1st week, farmers and grocery traders buy them. Then the seedling is planted in the floating step. Planting of sapling on the soil is possible to harvest the straw but it is not feared in the floating bed. If the cultivation of vegetables on the ground again, many fertilizers and insecticides have to be applied. Floating bed does not need it. Because rotten kachuripana, Dulali clay, paddy clay, saplings from various types of shawl and other aquatic plants get adequate organic fertilizer. In this way about 23-25 types of vegetables and spices are cultivated with proper care of lava, sweet pumpkin, cucumber, tomato, red spinach, pulse spinach, curry leaves, green chilli, capsicum, coriander leaf and curl etc.
Step reuse:
A step is generally useful for three months. Then there is a need to make some changes to use the steps again. Many times the farmers have changed their steps by making little vegetables like red vegetables, red spinach, palanquin, coriander leaves, cauliflower, pepper, lettuce leaves etc. Again, many times the steps are sold to other farmers. Besides, the unhealthy steps of using water are used as organic fertilizers mixed with soil. It increases soil fertility.
Floating Farming Method:
Generally, a floating phase of 50-60 meters costs 3-5 thousand rupees. In this phase, saplings can be sold for 2500-3000 rupees. To make a step 100 feet tall and spend 5 months in the production of seedlings 15 thousand taka. The steps used for the first time can be sold from Tk 2,000 to Tk 3,000. In all, if the farmer chooses to use the floating farming method, then earning Tk 2 to 2.5 million per acre can earn a year.
This floating farming system, which is capable of dealing with food shortages, is very likely to face the disasters due to climate change due to which the people of Bangladesh and Bangladesh are facing all the disasters and the disasters in future. In Bangladesh, if the floating vegetables can be cultivated in half a million hectares of water, or half of its water, then untimely success will be achieved in the agriculture sector. And during the rainy season when the water sinks, agricultural land, food deficit arises, then this floating farming system can be done throughout the country. Farmers can save themselves, the country and the people of the country by planting in the floating farming system.
Since the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides is not used to cultivate in the floating method, cultivation in this method is very affordable and the food produced is much safer.
