ECHUCA’S TODD MURPHY IS NOW SET TO 

BECOME ECHUCA’S FIRST TEST CRICKETER

Echuca cricket sensation Todd Murphy is just one step from becoming the first local player to wear the famous Baggy Green cap of the Australian Test team.

The 22-year-old off-spinner, who played all his junior cricket in Moama, has this morning been named in the Australian squad to tour India – and all the experts seem to agree his playing in the series there is a given.

It is an amazing rise and rise in the sporting career of this young man, who has become something of a standout on-field because of his impact in competitions such as the Big Bash League with the Sydney Sixers – and because he is one of the few world cricketers who plays wearing glasses.

Todd’s cricket has been headline news in the local media for several years as he has progressed through the ranks – but the toughest test in world cricket is the Test tour of India.

On behalf of every cricket lover, and every proud local seeing a regional Victorian make good, I wish Todd a long and successful run as an Australian cricketer.
