سر پر تاج رکھنے والا پرندہ ہدہد آنکھوں پر عینک لگائے ایک شاخ پر چپ چاپ بیٹھا رہتا تھا،جیسے کچھ سوچ رہا ہو۔دن کے وقت اس کے پاس کئی جانور اور پرندے آتے اور جنگل کا سب سے عقل مند پرندہ سمجھ کر اس سے صلاح مشورہ کرتے۔ننھا ہدہد اپنے دادا کے پاس بڑی حیرت سے یہ دیکھتا رہتا۔ اس کا جی چاہتا کہ پرندے اور جانور اس کے پاس بھی آئیں اور اسے بھی اپنے اپنے مسائل بتائیں۔مثلاً ننھے میاں بتاؤ بارش کب ہوگی․․․․؟لیکن کوئی بھی اس کے پاس ایسی باتیں پوچھنے نہ آتا۔دوسری طرف بوڑھے ہدہد کے پاس ہر وقت جانوروں کا تانتا بندھا رہتا
A bird with a crown on its head was sitting quietly on a branch with glasses on its eyes, as if thinking about something. ۔ ایک روز دو گلہریاں اپنا جھگڑا لے کر آگئیں۔ایک کہنے لگی:جناب مجھے درخت کے نیچے ایک بل سے اخروٹوں کا ڈھیر ملا ہے۔ دوسری نے کہا:سرکار،یہ جھوٹ بولتی ہے۔ وہ اخروٹ مجھے ملے تھے،قبضہ اس نے جما لیا۔بوڑھے ہدہد نے اپنی عینک کے شیشوں سے جھانکتے ہوئے کہا:بے وقوف گلہریو!لڑائی جھگڑا اچھی بات نہیں۔ اس وقت ایک ایک اخروٹ لے کر کھا لو،باقی اسی جگہ حفاظت سے رکھ چھوڑو۔سردیوں میں جب خوب برف باری ہو گی اور تمہیں میلوں تک کوئی چیز کھانے کو نہ ملے گی،تب یہی اخروٹ تمہارے کام آئیں گے لیکن تب بھی برابر برابر بانٹ کر کھانا۔ گلہریوں کو یہ مشورہ پسند آیا اور وہ مطمئن ہو کر چلی گئیں۔ ننھا ہدہد یہ فیصلہ سن کر بہت خوش ہوا اور سوچنے لگا:اگر کوئی جانور میرے پاس بھی اس قسم کا مقدمہ لے کر آیا تو میں بھی ایسا ہی فیصلہ کروں گا۔اتنے میں ننھی چڑیوں کا ایک غول بوڑھے ہدہد کے پاس آیا۔ان میں سے ایک نے کہا کہ ہمیں ایک جگہ دانا پڑا نظر آیا ہے،مگر شبہ ہے کہ وہاں شکاری کا جال بھی ہے۔ ہدہد نے کہا:جہاں بھی شبہ محسوس کرو اس سے بچو۔دل کو کھٹکا یوں ہی نہیں ہوا کرتا۔ ننھا ہدہد قریب ہی ایک شاخ پر بیٹھا سارا دن عقل مند ہدہد کے پاس آنے والے جانوروں کو دیکھتا۔وہ حیران بھی ہوتا اور افسوس بھی کرتا کہ کوئی اس کے پاس کیوں نہیں آتا․․․․؟

Just then a flock of small birds came to old Hudhad. One of them said that we have seen a grain lying in one place, but it is suspected that there is also a hunter's trap there. Hudhad said: Wherever you feel doubt, avoid it. Little Hudhad sat on a nearby branch all day watching the animals coming to the wise Hudhad.

 ایک دن ننھے ہدہد کو یہ خیال آیا کہ دادا ہدہد کے پاس جو عینک ہے،شاید اسی میں کوئی خاص بات ہے۔ اس کے دل نے کہا دراصل یہی عینک انہیں عقل مندوں والی باتیں سکھاتی ہے۔یہ سوچ کر اس نے فیصلہ کیا کہ وہ دادا کی عینک چرا لے۔ایک روز دوپہر کے وقت جب بوڑھا ہدہد آنکھیں بند کیے بیٹھا تھا،ننھے ہدہد نے موقع غنیمت جانا اور چپکے سے اس کی عینک اتار لی۔ اس کے بعد وہ واپس اپنی جگہ پر چلا آیا اور بوڑھے ہدہد کی طرح ناک پر عینک ٹکا کر”عقل مد“بن بیٹھا۔پھر وہ جانوروں کا انتظار کرنے لگا کہ وہ اس کے پاس آئیں اور کام کی باتیں پوچھیں۔زیادہ دیر نہیں گزری تھی کہ ایک چکوری آکر اس کے پاس بیٹھ گئی اور پوچھنے لگی:ہدہد میاں،آج رات آسمان پر پورا چاند نکلے گا یا نہیں․․․․؟ ننھے ہدہد نے بوڑھے کی نقل کرتے ہوئے عینک کے شیشوں کے اوپر سے چکوری کو دیکھا اور اس کے بعد کچھ دیر ذہن پر زور ڈالا،مگر کوئی بات اس کی سمجھ میں نہ آئی۔ کبھی خیال آتا کہ کہہ دے ہاں نکلے گا۔پھر سوچتا اگر پورا چاند نہ نکلتا تو بڑی شرمندگی ہو گی۔اس لئے اس نے سوچا گول مول بات ہی کرنی چاہیے۔یہی سوچ کر کہنے لگا کہ ہو سکتا ہے آج پورا چاند نکل آئے اور یہ بھی ممکن ہے کہ پورا چا ند نہ نکلے۔ چکوری یہ دلچسپ جواب سن کر زور سے ہنسی اور اڑ گئی۔ننھے ہدہد کے پاس جو بھی آیا یہ ان کو مطمئن جواب نہ دے سکا۔ہر مرتبہ سوچتا ہی رہ گیا۔نہ عینک نے اسے کوئی جواب سمجھایا،نہ خود اس کے ذہن میں کوئی بات آئی۔آخر اس نے صاف صاف کہہ دیا کہ مجھے تو ان باتوں کا کچھ پتہ نہیں

Thinking that, he decided to steal his grandfather's lens. One day in the afternoon when the old Hudhad was sitting with his eyes closed, the little Hudhad seized the opportunity. Jana and secretly took off his glasses. After that he went back to his place and sat like an old Hudhad with his spectacles on his nose. Then he waited for the animals to come to him and ask about the work. Not much time passed. A girl came and sat next to him and started asking: Haddad Mian, will the full moon appear in the sky tonight or not? Little Hudhad, imitating the old man, looked at the chicory through the glasses of the eye-glasses and after that for some time stressed his mind, but he did not understand anything. Sometimes he thought that saying yes would come out. Then he thought that if the full moon didn't come out, it would be a big shame. That's why he thought that he should talk about it. Thinking about this, he said that maybe the full moon will come out today and It is also possible that the full moon will not rise. Chikuri laughed out loud and flew away after hearing this interesting answer. Whatever came to little Hadhad could not give her a satisfactory answer. Something came up. Finally, he said clearly that I do not know anything about these things
 
۔ سب اس کی جھوٹ موٹ کی عقل مندی کا مذاق اڑاتے ہوئے چلے گئے۔ ننھے ہدہد پر اب یہ بات کھل گئی تھی کہ عینک میں ایسی کوئی بات نہیں جو یہ کسی کو عقل مند بنا سکے۔اس نے فیصلہ کیا کہ وہ اس کو ابھی واپس دے آئے گا۔بوڑھا ہدہد ابھی تک آنکھیں بند کیے اپنی جگہ بیٹھا تھا۔ ننھا ہدہد اُڑ کر اس کے پاس پہنچا اور آہستہ سے عینک اس کی ناک پر رکھ دی۔ بوڑھے نے ایک آنکھ تھوڑی سی کھول رکھی تھی اور اسے دیکھ رہا تھا۔ آپ جاگ رہے ہیں․․․․؟ننھے ہدہد نے شرمندہ ہو کر پوچھا۔ہاں،میں نے تمہاری حرکتیں دیکھ لی ہیں۔ بوڑھے ہدہد نے سنجیدگی سے کہا۔ جتنی عمر کم ہو گی،اتنا تجربہ بھی کم ہو گا اور عقل بھی اتنی ہی تھوڑی ہو گی۔درخت پر سارا سارا دن اور ساری ساری رات بیٹھے رہنے کے بجائے یہ وقت تمہیں جنگل میں گھوم پھر کر گزارنا چاہیے۔اس طرح تمہارے تجربے اور سمجھ بوجھ میں اضافہ ہو گا۔ پھر جب تم میری عمر کو پہنچو گے تو عمر بھر کا تجربہ تمہیں میری طرح عقلمند بنا دے گا۔ بوڑھے ہدہد کی یہ بات ننھے ہدہد کی سمجھ میں آگئی تھی۔اب وہ کچھ وقت بوڑھے ہدہد سے عقل مندی کی باتیں سنتا،پھر جنگل کی سیر کو نکل جاتا۔ وہ جہاں کہیں بھی جاتا،اپنا دماغ اور اپنی آنکھیں کھلی رکھتا اور ہر چیز کو بڑے غور سے دیکھتا اور یاد رکھتا۔ اس طرح عمر کے ساتھ ساتھ اس کے علم میں اضافہ ہوتا گیا۔اب اگر کبھی کوئی اس سے مشورہ لیتا ہے تو اس کا دماغ پہلی کی طرح کورا نہیں تھا،وہ اپنے تجربوں کی وجہ سے پرندوں کو صحیح مشورے دیتا
. Everyone left laughing at the wisdom of his lie. It dawned on little Huddah that there was nothing in the glass that would make anyone wise. He decided to return it now. Old Huddah was still sitting in his seat with his eyes closed. . Little Haddad flew up to him and gently placed the glasses on his nose. The old man had one eye slightly open and was looking at him. Are you awake․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․․ Old Hadhad said seriously. The younger you are, the less experience you will have and the less wisdom you will have. Instead of sitting on a tree all day and all night, you should spend this time walking around in the forest. Thus, your experience and Understanding will increase. Then when you reach my age, a lifetime of experience will make you as wise as I am. Little Hudhad understood this of old Hudhad. Now he would listen to wise words from old Hudhad for some time, then he would go for a walk in the forest. Wherever he went, he kept his mind and eyes open and observed and remembered everything with great care. In this way, his knowledge increased with age. Now if someone ever asked him for advice, his mind was not as blank as before, he would give the right advice to the birds because of his experiences.
