Where is Your Confidence

Where is your confidence? Some people do put their confidence on material things that can fail them anytime, anyday. But it ought not to be so.

In June 2018, a group of intruders stormed into Nigeria Senate, leaving lawmakers stunned after they absconded with their apparent prize: a ceremonial golden mace, which is a symbol of authority; without which the legislature cannot make decisions.

The mace is a symbol of authority and usually lies on the table in front of the Senate president. Just a day after that, the police announced that they had found the mace under an overpass in Abuja, Nigeria's capital city.

Can you imagine that a symbol of authority and confidence of the legislature was found under the bridge. Some people do put their trust in men, some trust in chariots, some trust in horses, some others in their beauty and others in their families, some trust in their education and some in their friends. All of those can fail you if you fail to acknowledge that your ultimate confidence and trust should be in God.

Do not put your confidence on any material thing because you would be disappointed at some point in life. God is the only one that rules over the affairs of men. Don't trust any mace, man or material. What is your own mace that you are holding onto? Money, children, a person, your spouse, your job, your car?

Forget about all of those and look up to God. He is the only one that can help you and never disappoint you.
