POEM: YES I DO

Yes I do is a big phrase 

One that we all want to say

You know when it is being said

When two are being joined as one.

 

Yes I do, I long-anticipated

I prayed always for it to come

When I'll glam in my attire

And walk down the aisle with him.

 

I waited a year, too and three

The way to turn into a decade

I fantasize much about it

Still I know it sure will come.

 

While I wait I've seen many

Yes I do turned No I don't

Joy and peace turned hurt and tears

For those who rushed to say yes

 

Now the question is being asked

Should I say yes or say no

Yes I do is all I want

But will it be worth the wait?

I've kept mute and I'm still mute

What to say is all I want

Joy and peace is very vital

More important than yes I do.

 

So I paused to think of it

We can do it well and better

Than all those who did it wrong

In choosing wrong all their lives.

 

I looked at him and said nothing

Saying a prayer in my heart

Then I turned and faced the crowd

Yes I do, I jumped and said.
