To Succeed, Avoid Excuses

S
There are some people that spend the major part of the time that they should have invested towards becoming better to create excuses why something is not working. Each time you feel the need to give excuses, just remember that excuses cannot get the job done, rather it will take away from the person the ability to take responsibilities. Obviously, without taking responsibilities, success may just be a mirage. For every excuse why something cannot be done, there is usually multiple reasons why that particular thing can be done. So make your choice.

A story was told of a farmer whose only barn collapsed and led to a massive spoilage of his yams and others food crops. Before the collapse, the signs were present. It started as a leaking roof. However, during the rainy season, he gave excuses that the rain was too much and he cannot work under the rain. He then postponed it to the dry season. However, during the dry season, he gave excuses that there was no need to check again nor to fix it since there is no rain that will be leaked from the roof. That was how he kept giving excuses and never took responsibility and one day, as a heavy rain was falling, the roof snapped and the barn collapsed and damaged his agricultural products badly.

What differentiates successful people from others is that, while others are finding excuses why something is not working, they are looking for ways to make it work. What makes the difference is not what life brings to you but how you respond to it - either to take responsibilities or to give excuses. Someone that always gives excuses hardly have responsibilities entrusted into their hands. One of the reasons why people give excuses for none performance is lack of the willingness to take full responsibilities for their actions and inactions. If you know that you have responsibility for your actions, you will limit your excuses and rather look for how to make things work.

Excuse, most times, is a subtle show of quitting because it makes one unwilling to take more steps. Most people fail to realise that no excuse is tenable to make up for failure. If people spend as much time to try again as they spend on cooking up excuses, there won't be a need for excuses because the result would have been gotten.

Some people use failure or failed attempt as an excuse to justify their fears or their negative talks, while wise people use the same failed attempt as a motivation that, at least, they are making attempts. It is how you respond to a failed attempt that will go to determine if you will be discouraged by it or encouraged by it. The truth is that the only thing excuses will do to you is to make you comfortable at a spot and prevent you from taking further steps, and will even give justifications for your failed attempts.

Whatever you choose to do, one thing you should have in mind is that it is unwise to do what you will eventually have an excuse for. But when you do something and be ready to bear the full responsibilities for your actions, you will put in enough zeal into it and the determination to succeed will be present. One of the major mindsets that bring about success is the mindset of "never give nor take excuses." Many people do not like to take excuse from people, but on their own part, they should not give excuses too. What you do not want others to give to you, it is only wise that you should be careful not to give it to others.

It is true that nothing is impossible, but it is only for the determined mind and the person that has zeroed their mind not to give any excuses irrespective of what happens. It is worthy to note that no one becomes a failure until the person has willingly quitted trying and subscribed to excuses. However, as long as the person is always willing to try again and again, then success has no option but to come.
