Apple confirms shipment delays for iPhone 14 Pro models due to COVID-19 restrictions

The main assembly plant for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in Zhengzhou, China, has briefly been affected by COVID-19 restrictions. At the moment, the plant is using much less of its capacity. We are giving the health and safety of the people in our supply chain top priority, as we have done during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Accordingly, Foxconn's iPhone production capacity in India will rise quickly over the next several years. In 2023, iPhone production in India will "grow by at least 150% YoY, and the medium/long-term target is to ship 40-45% of iPhones from India (vs. the present 2-4%)."

The statement merely refers to the two iPhone Pro models as being impacted; it makes no mention of how severely the production capacity for the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models has been reduced. This is the first official news release about iPhone manufacturing estimates from Apple since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Technology has advanced quite quickly and continues to do so. The same goes for charging rate. Due to its 45W charging capacity compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max's 27W, the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra completely outperforms the Apple device in this area.

The Samsung S22 Ultra outlasted the iPhone 14 Pro Max by 31 minutes in a charging test performed by an Indian YouTuber. In 1 hour and 17 minutes, the Samsung charged from 0 to 100 percent. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Pro Max was able to charge to 100% in 1 hour and 51 minutes. It has taken almost two hours to charge.
