Hon. Brenda Nabukenya_ Woman Mp Luweero district, Hon. Kirumira Hassan Lukalidde _ Mp Katikamu South, Hon. Sekabira Denis_ Mp Katikamu North and I, had a number of joint charity events in Luweero district today.
At the district headquarters, we met a number of teen mothers and we handed over to Kasana hospital Six delivery beds, One hundred Mama Kits, One hundred packs of reusable sanitary pads, Sixty litres of ultra sound gel, Sixty litres of hand sanitizer, Sixty litres of liquid soap and baby clothes.
Later, we met a number of other young mothers at Nakikonge primary school. With them, we shared basins, sacks of posho, baby clothes, reusable sanitary pads and Mama Kits. We then proceeded to two homes where we visited and donated a few things to two teen mothers, one of these a mother to twin boys.
To crown the day's event, we had a tour of Nakikonge health centre IV where we donated one delivery bed and a number of Mama Kits.
I would like to deeply appreciate the four Mps and the NUP leadership in Luweero for making these charity activities possible.
We have agreed that to end the challenge of the increasing number of teen mothers in Luweero, we will have to carry out a number of many other community inclusive activities to engage the children, parents, community members and all leaders. In all this, our aim is to identify, visit these mothers, donate and in the near future skill them. It should be remembered that recently, statistics from Kasana hospital showed an alarmingly growing number of teen mothers.
