In order to become a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Pakistan, one must follow the following steps:
Education:
The first step is to complete a Bachelor's degree in Commerce or a related field from a recognized university. It is also required to have studied accounting, economics, business and mathematics as major subjects.
Eligibility:
After completing the degree, the candidate must register with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) as a student member. The ICAP requires passing an entry test for the registration.
Training:
Once registered, the candidate must complete a three-year practical training program under a practicing CA. The training program includes on-the-job training, attending courses and passing exams.
Examination:
After completing the training program, the candidate must pass the final qualifying examination, which is held twice a year. The exam consists of two parts: Objective and Subjective
Membership:
Once the candidate has successfully passed the final qualifying examination, they must apply for membership with the ICAP. After the application is approved, the candidate becomes a Chartered Accountant.
Continuing Professional Development:
Once they become a member of ICAP, they need to maintain their membership by completing continuing professional development (CPD) requirements, which includes attending courses and seminars, and passing exams.
