Wigan Athletic fires manager Kolo Toure after nine Games with 0 victories.

After losing all nine of his games as manager of Wigan Athletic, Kolo Toure was fired.

Only in November was the former defender for Manchester City and Arsenal named as Richardson's replacement.

However, the Latics only earned two points in his seven Championship games in charge and are currently last in the standings, four points from escaping.

They now have a two-week vacation before going to Blackburn on Monday, February 6, to resume play.

Wigan CEO Malachy Brannigan remarked, "As difficult a decision as this was, the board deemed it essential to offer us the greatest possible opportunity of staying a Championship team next season."

Kevin Betsy and Ashvir Johal, two employees of Toure, have been fired, according to Wigan.

Wigan reports that they are "moving fast to recruit and hire a new manager," with the remaining coaching staff taking temporary control of the first team.

Brannigan continued, "I'd want to thank Kolo, as well as Kevin and Ash, for their contributions throughout their time at the football club.

"We are aware that this time of year is crucial for every football team, including our own.

"With the immediate goal of staying in the second division for next season, we will now work promptly and efficiently to ensure the appropriate person is selected as the next permanent manager of Wigan Athletic."

Before leaving the Foxes for the Wigan post on November 29, Toure worked with Brendan Rodgers at both Celtic and Leicester.

After a 1-1 draw with Millwall to start his tenure, they went on to lose to Hull City, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough, Sunderland, and 4-1 to Hull City.

Toure said he was still getting to know his players after they were eliminated from the FA Cup by Luton in the third round match.

Saturday's Championship game at home against Luton resulted in a 2-0 loss for him as manager.

In the past three years, Wigan has now hired five permanent managers.

Paul Cook left the club in August 2020 when it was in administration, and John Sheridan took over on a month-to-month basis before departing in November of the same year.
