The Chinese Yuan and the Global Market

rizwana21

We have all seen that the Chinese Yuan remained stable even in the drastic situation during pandemic covid 19. Even it accelerated in 2020 internationally facing all the diplomatic restrictions levied by the US.

Financial experts are of the view that Yuan has a great potential to grow as a stable currency moving smoothly towards all the cross-border investment platforms.

Still, it is a hot topic in the financial sector that the Chinese Yuan would be the one to overthrow the US Dollar and become a currency of international as early as 2030. China is making defective strategies to promote the digital currencies of a central bank.

Sun Lijian Recent Analysis about Yuan Future

This was made further clear by Sun Lijian, a professor of finance at China's Fudan University. He claims and predicts that the US dollar has nearly lost its power as a super currency because of its consistent volatility in the currency market.

In a recent interview with The Nikkei, Sun has clearly said that if US Dollar has lost its strength to perform as an anchor for other currencies, then the Chinese and Japanese Yuan would replace this position performing in a more stable way in the international currency system. Still, he believes that it is quite difficult for Yuan to replace Dollar and compete in the international market.

How has China Initiated Financial Regulations?

This stability in the Chinese Yuan certainly has a constant and wise policy. Let’s see what are these exactly:

  • China has shown more flexibility  in the financial sector
  • It has devised a stable monetary policy
  • It has initiated an international currency cooperation policy
  • China has allowed Yuan to participate in
  • The foreign financial institutions ( which resulted in an overwhelming interest of overseas investors to grab this opportunity expecting high returns
  • China has removed several quota restrictions on investment via the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor and the yuan-denominated Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor programs
  • Chinese financial regulators have also reduced several requirements and  further lowered entry requirements and widened the facilities for such foreign investment programs

Conclusion

This is also to be noticed that the yuan has played a good strong role as a reserve currency. It is successful in holding more than 70 countries’ reserve assets with central banks.
