এ গল্পটি হচ্ছে দুইজন বন্ধুর।। তাদের বন্ধুত্ব শুরু হয় হসপিটালের একটি কেবিন থেকে।। দুইজনের মধ্যে একজনের অবস্থা এমন ছিল যে গলা থেকে পা পর্যন্ত সম্পূর্ণ শরীর প্যারালাইসিস হয়ে গেছিল যে কারণে সে শরীরের একটা অঙ্গ নারাতে পারতো না।। তার কাছে যে নার্স তার সেবা করার জন্য আসতো তাকেই বলতো যে আমাকে এমন একটা ইনজেকশন দাও আমি যেন মরে যাই আমার আর বাঁচার ইচ্ছে নাই এভাবে বেঁচে থেকে আমার কি লাভ হবে।। লোকটির যে বন্ধুটি ছিল সে প্রতিদিন সকাল এবং সন্ধ্যা ওই কেবিনের মধ্যে যে জানালা ছিল সে জানালার পাশে গিয়ে দাঁড়াতো আর তার বন্ধুকে বলতো যে বাহিরে কি হচ্ছে।। সুন্দর নীল আকাশ ও সাদা সাদা মেঘ হালকা হালকা বাতাস কিছু পাখি উড়তেছে, অনেক সুন্দর একটি সমুদ্র সৈকত যার মধ্যে কিছু বাচ্চারা মাটি দিয়ে ঘরবাড়ি বানিয়ে খেলতেছে, কিছু মানুষ ওখানে বসে শুধুমাত্র সমুদ্র সৈকত দেখতেছে, কেউ শারীরিক ব্যায়াম করছে কেউ ঘুড়ি ওড়াচ্ছে, ওখানে একটি আইসক্রিমের দোকান আছে সেখান থেকে কিছু লোক আইসক্রিম কিনে খাচ্ছে, সূর্য অস্ত যাওয়ার সময় পানি সোনালী রংএর মত হয়ে যায় এবং চকমক করতে থাকে।। শুরুতে যখন তার বন্ধু এসব কথা বলতে থাকে তার কাছে তেমন একটা ভালো লাগে না কিন্তু আস্তে আস্তে তার বাঁচতে ইচ্ছে করে।। সে এখন সকালের অপেক্ষা করে কখন সকাল হবে আর তার বন্ধু তাকে আবার সেই জানালার পিছনে কি হচ্ছে তাকে বলবে।। কিছুদিন এভাবেই চলতে থাকে একদিন সে সকালে উঠল এবং দেখলো যে তার পাশে তার সেই বন্ধু আর নেই নার্সকে ডাকলো এবং জিজ্ঞাসা করল যে সেই লোকটি কোথায় তার বন্ধুদের কথায়।। নার্স বলল কেন সে আপনাকে বলেনি সে তো ক্যান্সার আক্রান্ত ছিল সে রাতেই মারা গেছে।। একথা শোনার পর লোকটি আবার ভেঙ্গে পড়ল।। কারণ একমাত্র তার বন্ধু ছিল যে তাকে এই কেবিনের বাইরে কি হচ্ছে তা বলতে ছিল, আর সে জানতে পারত যে পৃথিবীটা কত সুন্দর।। কিছুদিন তো অনেক কান্নাকাটি করে এবং বাঁচতে চায় না।। সে মনে মনে এটাও চিন্তা করে যদি আমি মরার আগে একবার এই জানালার পাশে দেখতে পারতাম যে পৃথিবীটা আসলে কতটা সুন্দর।। সে অনেক কষ্ট করে হামাগুড়ি দিয়ে জানালার পাশে যায় এবং দাঁড়িয়ে দেখে যে জানালার ওপাশে কিছুই নেই এটা কালো দেয়াল।।। এটা দেখার পর সে জোরে চিৎকার দেয় এবং নার্সকে ডাকে যে আপনারা জানালার পাশে এই কালো দেয়াল কেন দিয়েছেন সেই সমুদ্র সৈকত কোথায়।। নার্স বলে আমি এখানে পাঁচ বছর ধরে কাজ করছি এখানে তখন থেকেই এই কালো দেয়াল এখানে সমুদ্র সৈকত বলতে কিছুই নেই।। লোকটি বলে তাহলে আমার বন্ধু আমাকে মিথ্যা কথা বলেছে সে আমাকে ধোকা দিয়েছে
