[Poem] Mirrors in Shadows (Understanding the Enemy)

rada11219

Across the chasm, a figure I see,

Cloaked in darkness, an enemy.

Anger flares, hot and quick,

But curiosity bids me take a peek.

Is it just the shadow my own light casts?

A reflection of pain, the past amassed?

o their fears mirror mine, unseen?

Do their wounds bleed, just as keen?

Perhaps the line, so stark and bold,

Is blurring, stories yet untold.

Maybe within their hate-filled gaze,

A shared experience softly plays.

This doesn't erase the wrongs they've done,

But understanding might start, just begun.

For when we bridge the divide, with empathy's might,

Darkness might transform, bathed in gentler light.
