High in the branches, sunlight beams,
A crimson crown, a flash of wings,
A carpenter of nature's schemes,
Where every tap a message sings.
He chisels holes with practiced ease,
A sculptor crafting perfect round,
His home within the whispering trees,
A haven safe and snugly bound.
He gathers bits of leaves and straw,
A cozy nest, a masterpiece,
Where fledglings chirp, and shadows draw,
Protected from the wind's caprice.
The woodpecker, a tireless friend,
Who shares his bounty, loud and clear,
A drummer, carpenter, till the end,
His music ringing far and near.
