[Odessa]: The art of creating ships. Marine model gallery

Shipbuilding is one of the oldest industries. The beginning it is separated from us by tens of thousands of years.

The history of shipbuilding begins from the appearance of the first rafts and boats, carved from a wooden trunk, to modern handsome ships and rocket ships, has its roots in ancient times. It is as multifaceted and spans as many centuries as the history of mankind itself.

The main impetus for the emergence of navigation, as well as related shipbuilding, was the development of trade between peoples separated by sea and ocean space. The first ships moved with the help of oars, only occasionally using a sail as an auxiliary force. Then, approximately in X - XI centuries, along with rowing vessels there were purely sailing vessels.

The shipbuilding industry, being one of the most important sectors of the national economy and having scientific, technical and production potential, has a decisive influence on many other related industries and on the economy as a whole, as well as on its defense and political situation in the world. It is the state of shipbuilding that is an indicator of the scientific and technical level of the country and its military-industrial potential, accumulating in its products the achievements of metallurgy, engineering, electronics and new technologies.

Today we will talk a little about the souvenir ships and sailboats that make the master. Odessa is a sea city and the interest in ships is very great. Houses and offices are decorated with model ships. In our city there is a Maritime Museum. This topic is very interesting for me. It is interesting to observe the stylistic principles of the work of master modelers, technical and craft techniques of making models of sailing and other ships. And most importantly, characterized by a high level of public recognition of the importance of both the work of masters and the level of evaluation of the results of their work. The art of shipbuilding has taken a significant place in the cultural life of countries that have a rich Maritime history. In Odessa there are enough masters who are engaged in craft of production of the ships.

The post presents the works of the Odessa master Igor Akimov. He has his own gallery in The alley, 4. It is located in a shopping center near the railway station. As far as I remember, the gallery has existed for more than 10 years. On the second floor there are models of various ships.

I often go to the Mall, so I always go to the gallery. It is a great pleasure to see the ships. You understand how much the author has put his soul into his work. The ships are simply flawless.

The works of Igor Akimov belong to the products of decorative and applied art of Museum quality. All Igor's works have an expert certificate. I know that Odessa masters constantly participate in various competitions and tenders. Many prizes and awards were won. Models of certain ships bought different museums in the world.

It is very pleasant that in many schools of Odessa there are electives of production of model ships. What else? We have sea city. Children are always interested in ships. Thus, from childhood thinking of future engineers of shipbuilding and ocean engineering is formed.

Odessa craftsmen have restored a lot of models of old Greek ships to the real value that previously plied the waters of the Black sea.

I especially like the models of ships and sailboats of Igor Akimov. In my humble opinion this is the best Odessa master and researcher. In the manufacture of model ships used precious wood and precious metals. The ships are decorated with various sculptures and paintings. The gallery has paintings with marine themes by famous artists of the post-Soviet space.

Models of ships are difficult to manufacture. Igor uses in the manufacture of ships drawings in two styles - a Palace and Admiralty. I'm not really familiar with the styles and principles of making model ships, but I would love to see how such beautiful ships are made.

Ship modeling is a very beautiful art. Ship modeling as a social phenomenon, not as the work of individual masters to create models of sailing ships. When I speak about ship modeling as a social phenomenon, first of all, I mean the fact that it is impossible to consider the construction of the model by a separate master in isolation from the whole complex of conditions and circumstances. It is these conditions and circumstances that turn the work on making the model into a possible, significant and affordable event for contemplation. An event that becomes the property of not only a very narrow circle of friends, colleagues and customers. It is impossible, if you divide this assessment of the present stage of development of ship modelling. This does not diminish the importance of the work of individual artists who create true masterpieces. Which are worthy of placement in the world Treasury of ship modeling art, along with models that were created two hundred, three hundred years ago. This simply captures the understanding of the conditions of existence of modern sailing ship modeling. Not survival, but a full-fledged existence and development. And this understanding can be the basis for the organization of effective efforts to develop ship modeling as a phenomenon of cultural and social life.

And if we talk about the situation around the opportunities for the development of ship modeling in Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, all of the above is confirmed in personal communication with the masters and discussions at various forums. Many complain about the lack of an effective and adequate archival and Museum component of creating models. The lack of understanding on the part of potential customers about the assessment of the cost of creating models, the lack of understanding of the importance of the work of modelers. The lack of interest and knowledge of the General public, which allow it to adequately perceive the results of the masters. The absence of state policy in this area. The lack of available and interesting sites where you can demonstrate the results of the modelers. And the mass of other manifestations of the absence in these areas of a holistic vision of ship modeling as a phenomenon of cultural and social life. A phenomenon that has an internal logic and absolutely certain conditions for its existence. Not the conditions that are the subject of interpersonal agreement of individuals. And those that are determined by the efforts of a large number of individuals and their communities. Sometimes, even not suspecting the existence of each other. It would be very desirable that masters in model construction of the ships had more opportunity of communication for productive work. I hope that some day the States will pay attention to this fascinating art form.

I would very much like to have been on sale designers, with which children collected ships. There are very few of them on the market. I am a child of paper made ships, but their lifetime is very small:)

Matches children are not a toy-it is known to all. But at the same time, they are an excellent material for children's creativity. How many wonderful crafts can be built from the usual box of matches-houses, ships, cars and tanks, figures of people and animals! From matches, too, can be build beautiful ships.
