[Antarctica]: Southern life of polar explorers

I continue to introduce you to the life that takes place at the South Pole of the Earth at the Ukrainian Vernadsky station. There is good news. For scientific research and other purposes, Ukraine bought an icebreaker from Britain.

 

Ukrainian polar explorers will now be delivered to the station by an icebreaker. It is interesting that he will come to Odessa, where I live. Of course, the travel time from Odessa to Antarctica on an icebreaker will be approximately 50 days.

Here is the Ukrainian Antarctic Vernadsky station. Ukrainian scientists have been living and conducting research in Antarctica for 26 years. The station is located near the island of Galindez.

A very dangerous area where the station is located. The first buildings in this area were built on one of the neighboring islands back in the 1930s.

In 1946, this base was destroyed, as it is believed, by a tsunami. Then no one was killed, because people were not yet at the station all the time.

The Ukrainian station is located directly above the ozone hole. Polar explorers who conduct research for a year, then need to restore their health for a long time. But scientists go there at the call of their hearts. Those who have been there once, are happy to go a second time. But before the trip, the polar explorers undergo a very thorough check. This is physical and psychological health. After all, not everyone can withstand living a year without communicating with relatives and friends. And be in the same team of 12 people.
