My experience in the Barracks.
A barracks is a place where soldiers and their families reside, it is an environment strictly occupied and surrounded by soldiers, soldiers and their families are the only people who are legally allowed to live in the barracks.
Some major reasons for the establishment of barracks is for security reasons, most areas of the country are experiencing inter- community conflicts and many other violent activities, so the establishment of barracks with soldiers occupying such environment will help to reduce the immoral activities going on in the area and the nation at large.
Well I will be glad to share my experience in the barracks with my friends here.
Starting with, my Dad is a soldier in the Nigerian Army, so I and my three siblings grew up in the barracks,
I will go world wide and tell them my father is born a hero, it takes only a true man to be a hero and only a hero to be a soldier, Soldiers are those who never accept defeat, who never leave a fallen comrade behind, Soldiers are born to fight, trained to kill, prepared to die, never will keep slow, but move fast , kill first and die last, one man one bullet, no luck but pure skills, in the rain they match, under the sun they stand, day and night they never off duty for once, they are so unique from the camouflaged dress to the language they speak.
This is the reality of our soldiers.

Back to my experiences in the barracks,I will say it was fun growing up in the barracks, I grew up in 245 Recce battalion Afi Barracks in Ikom Local Government area of Cross River State, starting from the well secured environment, growing up with people from all walks of life, from all parts of the country, the Hausa, the Igbo,the Yoruba and all other tribes in Nigeria we all live as one big family in the barracks without any form of discrimination or tribalism, and we share many things in common despite our cultural differences,we shared locally made dishes with each other, learning to eat and prepare locally made dishes of all sort be it an Igbo, Yoruba, Hausa, Ijaw, Idoma Efik, Tiv Orobo or Igala dish and many other local dishes too from different tribes, I have tasted many locally made dishes in the course of living the barracks,so when it comes to food adaptation,I can stay in any part of the country, Staying in the barracks made me associate with people easily. discipline, respect, honesty, and good morals are the order of the day in every child that grew up in the barracks.
I grew up to be a disciplinarian and to always be disciplined no matter where I Find myself because of the environment I grew up in and it has really been of good effect to me and everyone around me.In summary
I learnt to be a disciplinarian, to associate easily with people, avoiding any sort of tribalism or discrimination, being honest, with good morals and ethics, growing up in the barracks was a wonderful experience and it contributed alot in the person I have become today and the memories will never fade.
