The fire service received the news of the fire around 4:24 am on Sunday (March 26). The fire was brought under control around 8:20 am.



In the morning, the officer in charge of the fire service and civil defense headquarters (media cell) said. Shahjahan Sikder gave this information.

He said nine units arrived at the scene within six minutes of receiving the news of the Postagola Iron Market fire and started work to control the fire. The fire was brought under control at 8:20 am with the efforts of 12 units including three others.



Initially, he could not say the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out at a wood and furniture godown in Dakshingaon Bazar of Sabujbagh in the capital. The fire started at 4:25 in the morning. The fire was brought under control at 5:25 am with the help of 4 units of fire service.

The letter, signed by SM Moniruzzaman, senior assistant secretary (Hajj-2) of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines needed to increase the number of flights to ensure smooth flow of Hajj pilgrims to and from Saudi Arabia during the upcoming Hajj season. Corona As in previous times, Umrah passengers can be given the opportunity to travel to Saudi Arabia by becoming transit passengers on flights to other Middle Eastern countries. The letter also called on other Saudi Arabian airlines to operate flights between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia.


The letter, titled "Increase in the number of flights for Umrah passengers to fly to Saudi Arabia without hindrance", said that since August last year (2021), devout Muslims in Bangladesh have had the opportunity to perform Umrah after a long hiatus due to the Corona epidemic. After a long time, a large number of Umrah pilgrims from Bangladesh are going to Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah. Due to the Corona epidemic, the movement of expatriate Bangladeshis working abroad was also restricted for a long time. However, at present the number of foreign passengers, especially those going to Saudi Arabia, is much higher than at any time in the past.

It further said that before the Corona epidemic, Bangladeshi Umrah pilgrims could travel to Saudi Arabia on transit flights from other countries in the Middle East. However, after the start of the Corona situation, Umrah passengers from Bangladesh can only travel to and from Saudi Arabia on Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines. As a result, the number of passengers flying to Saudi Arabia has increased, while the number of flights has decreased. That is why it is now difficult to get a plane ticket. Ticket prices have risen due to the air ticket crisis.
