Many people think that people who have kidney problems will have better kidneys if they drink more water. But this idea is completely wrong. Even harmful habits like drinking a lot of water on an empty stomach are considered healthy by some. The reality is that if you drink water on an empty stomach like this, it is quickly absorbed into the blood. As a result, blood sodium concentration may decrease. Drinking too much water on an empty stomach can cause vomiting or convulsions, brain damage, and even death.

Drinking too much water is strictly forbidden especially for those who have kidney problems. People who have kidney problems should not drink too much water. For people with kidney problems, water intake is calculated in such a way that the same amount of urine produced the previous day is added to the same amount of water as 500 or 600 ml of water that can be drunk throughout the day.

So the rule of drinking water is:- It is better to drink water little by little with breaks throughout the day. If physical exertion is less, drinking two to two and a half liters of water daily is sufficient. People who do heavy work in fields, roads or factories need a little more water. It is the same with athletes. To determine whether a person is getting enough water, look at the color of urination. If the color of urine is pale like water, then it should be understood that the amount of water intake is correct. A dark or yellow color appears in the urine if the water intake is low. Approximately one and a half liters of urine in 24 hours is sufficient. However, those with frequent urinary tract infections or a history of urinary tract stones are advised to drink three to three and a half liters of water daily.
