🔹Early Life and Education:

Masoud Pezeshkian was born in the city of Mahabad and raised in a middle-class family.

He studied medicine at Tabriz University of Medical Sciences, where he specialized in cardiac surgery. After graduation, he worked as a surgeon and later became a professor at the University of Tabriz School of Medicine, where he also held senior academic and administrative positions.

🔹Political Career:

After the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Pezeshkian became active in public service and worked with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in medical units during the Iran-Iraq War.In 2001, he was appointed Minister of Health under the reformist president Mohammad Khatami, focusing on expanding healthcare and medical education programs.

He also served multiple terms as a member of the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) representing Tabriz, and later became Deputy Speaker of Parliament.

Pezeshkian is recognized for his moderate political views, his calls for dialogue with the West, and his belief in gradual internal reform while maintaining the Islamic Republic’s foundational principles.

In 2024, following the death of President Ebrahim Raisi, Pezeshkian won the presidential election, defeating conservative candidate Saeed Jalili, backed by reformist movements and independent voters.

He officially took office on August 5, 2024, becoming the eighth president of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
