Little things do count alot, and most time can be what makes people define who we are.
The environment we find ourselves should not define us.
That everyone is corrupt should not make us be of like mind.
My teacher in secondary school proof this statement to be wrong
"If you can't beat them you join them"
Instead she encourages us to do the opposite.
"If you can't beat them, you stand alone"
This statement has been a light for many years unto my path.
The Yoruba speaking tribe do have this to say likewise to buttress my point that;
"Inu Koko dudu, le ko funfun ti jade"
Translation
"Inside a black pot, comes out a white pap"
Back to my discussion that honor is earn and not demanded or commanded.
The Story How little Money Bring About Honor
On this faithful day I left home around 6:15pm to get some provision lacking in the house.
On getting to my customer store, I pick few things which I needed pay him my money. So it was time to receive my balance.
He brought out a balance that exceed what am to be paid, telling me my balance was this, but he is not having that change.
I stand still, am a kind of person that am so shy that whenever I buy things I do not know how to disturb people for balance if the person ask me to come back the next day or laterĀ for it later.
I have learn my lesson the hard way, because I have left lots of money with people been unable to ask for it later.
The second option, I don't like keeping people change (balance) with me. I will always be disturb with my conscience till I pay back.
I ask my wife to pick something, and I did too.
Unknowingly to me, the chew gum and theĀ one of my wife exceed our balance.
He did provide it and I left. We were on our way back when my wife remember me that we are now owning the man.
I was shock, she explain and I was unable to go back because I was not having the money with me.
The next morning I withdraw some cash, went straight to his store and balance back.
Ever since then, the amount looks little but the way he respects and regards me is far more different now than before.

I know he must have been thinking just because of this little thing I came back the next day.
I did that for a reason. To have a clear conscience and peace with myself, God and the Man. Moreover, I was not brought up that way.
There's no glory in eating another man sweat no matter how small it.
I urge everyone who are character bankruptcy to turn a new leave for the better.
We might not know the day that what we sow Will germinate into a fruit that we will start enjoying.

I once had similar experience too. One thing about me is if the change to collect is small, I don't like asking for it unless I use it to take something else.Ā

I bought some items and the change I collected exceeded. On my way home, I was calculating it but I was almost home before I realized I have been given more than my initial change. The next day, I went and explained myself and the lady smiled and thanked me. To some, they will be like #100 is small to return back but to me, I have a conscience that God is looking at me.Ā
