SPIRITUAL MATURITY

 This brings me to the question. Who is a mature christian????

 A spiritually mature Christian is someone whose whole character—dispositions, words, and actions—emulates the character of Jesus Christ himself.”

  Ephesians 5vs 1

 1THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

2And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a [a]slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance.(A)

KJV:Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

2KJV:And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour.

 For us as a Christian to be a spiritually mature christian. we must be imitators of God.

 The first set of people to be called christian were called christian in Antioch because they act like Christ.

 I will like to quickly talk on five keys to spiritual maturity and will conclude with sign of spiritual maturity....

 1. know that you are saved

It's a personal conviction.

 know you are a new creature in christ
2cor 5vs17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

 This is very straightforward...it's the basic.it's the key. no other way about it. you must be saved first.

 2. Immerse yourself in Scripture.
There must be a steady, constant intake of the Word of God. The more we put it into practice in our lives is the extent we will grow as Christians.  
Knowing the word of God and practicing it is a proof that you are growing in God

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

 15 KJV:Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

 For you to mature spiritually fam...you must study the word of God....make it your bread and butter....

 3. Grow to love and worship God.
As we grow in our relationship with the Lord and our devotion to Him and for Him, He becomes more precious and glorious to us. 

As david consistently work with God he grew in love and worship for God which made him say in psalm 42 vs 1 As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God

 4. Be filled with the Spirit
The holy spirit enable us to carry out our christian duty effectively

 just as it is written in Act 2 the apostle and Peter were shy in preaching the gospel but when the spirit of God came upon them boldness came, they preach the gospel.even peter won 3000 souls for Christ that day

 Jesus began his ministry properly when the holy spirit came upon him

 Ephesians 5vs 18

 18And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery; but ever be filled and stimulated with the [Holy] Spirit.(C

 5. Resist the world, the flesh, and the devil.

In Galatians 5vs19-21 the bible list the works of flesh...so as Christian we should flee from all these works of flesh if we want to grow

 Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like

 As I said I will conclude with sign of spiritual maturity

 You become a man of principles and values

 The fruit of the spirit becomes your principle and value,it guides the way you live your life...

Gal 5vs 22-23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

 If these is found in your daily life as a Christian, trust me your are a spiritually mature christian. without these... you are still a baby christian.
