Antonio Conte continues his revitalization of Tottenham with another win against the surprise of the season team; Brentford. Games against Brentford are hardly easy but Tottenham managed to get the win to record their 3 points out of more to come, hopefully with fixtures congestion in December.
Tottenham got their two goals courtesy of an own goal from Canos and another goal from Son sealed the win for Tottenham.
Tottenham should have gotten ahead in the 6th minute but for the brilliance of the goalkeeper who denied Lucas Moura from his near post to force a corner kick. It was a game with few chances and Tottenham had the most of it.
Tottenham went ahead after pressure from Ben Davies forced Jansson to head clear the ball and it came off the head of his teammate; Canos into the back of the net. Credit to Son whose lovely delivery into the box started the own goal. Son could have added to the 1 goal lead in the 36th minute after his strike from just outside the box was saved by the goalkeeper. Hojbjerg also came close from the near post but the goalkeeper blocked his effort with his face to keep the scoreline at 1-0.
Fernandez did everything to frustrate Tottenham and then denied Harry Kane also in the 49th minute when it looked destined he would have scored but he denied Tottenham and Kane yet again.
Son killed the game off in the 65th minute and this time around, Fernandez couldn't do anything about it after Reguilon picked Son inside the box after carefully beating the goalkeeper for pace. Son had the easiest of goals as he only tapped in to give Tottenham a 2-0 cushion.
Brentford had half a chance with Toney in the 85th minute but Hugo Lloris carefully gathered the ball to hang on to his clean sheet.
There wasn't much to this game but Tottenham got the needed 3 points as Antonio Conte continued to impose his imprint on this underperforming Tottenham side but they have been a bit steady ever since he took over and the season holds enough for us to see what Tottenham can do as the seasons continue.
