Juventus continued their perfect start to their UEFA Champions League campaign with a comprehensive 4-2 win over Zenit. Goals from Dybala (who scored twice) Chiesa and Morata confined Zenit to a loss which saw them take the 3rd spot on the log and it would be near impossible for them to get out of the group as Chelsea sits 2nd on the log. This win perfectly sets Juventus with 12 points in 4 games as they occupy the top spot.
Zenit got two goals in the game courtesy of an own goal from Bonucci before Azmoun got a late consolation for the Zenit side. It was a well-deserved victory for Juventus who showed their experience and being clinical in front of goal.
A clever run in from Bernardeschi should have given Juventus the lead in the 7th minute if not for the clever block from the goalkeeper. Zenit were saved again in the 9th minute but this time around by the post after Morata laid a pass for Dybala and his strike beat the goalkeeper but couldn't beat the post as it bounced off before it was eventually cleared to safety.
Not to be denied for long, Juventus went ahead in the 11th minute and Dybala delivered the goods after the ball from a corner kick delivery eventually fell to him and he smashed home his effort with accuracy, power and precision. In the 26th minute, Vyacheslav Karavayev attempted cross into Juventus box was headed into the net by Juventus defender; Bonucci to draw Zenit level.
Chiesa won a penalty for Juventus in the 55th minute after he was clipped inside the box. Dybala stepped up and took it but he missed as his shot went wide. There was an encroachment into the box from Zenit and the referee ordered a retake which Dybala didn't miss this time around to restore Juventus' lead.
Zenit tried to drag themselves back into the game in the 69th minute after Malcom produced a long-range strike which Szczesny was able to push for a corner kick. Juventus sensed danger and in the 73rd minute, Chiesa produced a moment of magic after he went all the way to smash home his shot and extend Juventus lead. Chiesa almost got his second in the 77th minute after he was found in the box by Dybala. His effort was blocked off by the goalkeeper before the defender quickly dealt with it as it was rolling into the net.
Dybala unselfishly laid a lofted pass to Morata in the 82nd minute and Morata wasted no time in guiding the ball into the back of the net, under the goalkeeper, to extend the lead even further. 4-1 at that stage was too much for Zenit to get anything out of the game barring any unforeseen shock.
Zenit got a late consolation goal in the 92nd minute after Dzyuba was found in the box and his clever header found Azmoun who scored to end the game, 4-2. It would take a miracle for Zenit to qualify from this group.
