Manchester City continued their stay at the top after winning against Wolverhampton Wanderers by a solitary goal, thanks to Raheem Sterling's penalty which was subject to debate.
Wolves made it difficult for themselves after Raul Jimenez for sent off for 2 bookable offences that should have been avoided. This defeat confined Wolves to their 2nd loss in the last 10 appearances after losing to the last gasp effort from Origi the last time they played against Liverpool.
Cancelo had one hopeful shot earlier in the game but this time around he was unable to beat the goalkeeper. City pressed and had better possession of the ball but still couldn't break down a resilient Wolves side. Cancelo tried to pick out Sterling in the box with a lovely pass but it was too far for Sterling to reach in time and the goalkeeper gathered it.
Ruben Dias should have gotten City ahead earlier in the game when his header went wide. Wolves made it difficult for themselves just before halftime when he received 2 yellow cards within 31 seconds of each other after a cynical foul initially before blocking off a freekick afterwards. He was sent off as the referee had no other choice but to show him the door. City had a penalty shout shortly before the last kick of the first half when Grealish's delivery into the box struck the upper arm of Kilman and the referee waved off the penalty appeal from City.
Coady had to be at his best to deny Gundogan from giving City the lead after Joao Cancelo's cross into the box found Gundogan. His lovely header went past the goalkeeper but the alertness of Coady who had to clear the ball off the line saved Wolves from going behind there.
Joao Moutinho felt hard done after Bernado Silva's cross into the box struck his arm. He claimed it was under his armpit and not his arm but the referee, Jonathan Moss won't change his mind and pointed to the spot. Raheem Sterling stepped up in the 66th minute, kept his cool as he slotted the ball down the middle to send the goalkeeper the wrong way. Raheem Sterling joined the Club-100 as he got his 100th Premier League goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Jack Grealish shockingly missed scoring after Sterling's beautiful delivery found him inside the box. With the post at his mercy, he sent the ball over the bar when he should have scored. Kevin De Bruyne also found Gabriel Jesus right inside the box and his shot was blocked from the near post by the goalkeeper to further deny City from extending their lead.
Wolves, despite being a man down had a late chance to snatch a draw after Kilman's header was brilliantly stopped by Ederson to keep a clean sheet and maintain City's place at the top of the log. The game ended 1-0 and it was a happy moment for Sterling who scored his 100th Premier League goal which proved to be the difference between the two sides.
