As a child
Everyone who was within my age range
Wanted to grow up really fast
So they can do the things they saw adults do
But I was different
I wanted to remain as a child
I did not want to grow up
To be what my parents were like
When my mother says she is fine
I know she is not
When my father says he will come
I know he will not
To my young mind
Adulthood was a lie
And adults tell lies
To prevent people from seeing the real them
And apart from my parents
The other adults I knew
Were people with scary faces who barely smiled
If you are not told to talk you must not
They do not let you voice your opinion
Because they are always right
These things scared me
I did not want to grow into a replica
Of the adults that I grew up with
I'm still growing
And I am still scared of adults
But I have made a promise
to my young self
That I will not grow up to be like them
So help me God
Thank you for your time.
My pen doesn't bleed, it speaks, with speed and ease.
Still me,
My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.
