German midfielder Ilkay Gundowan's double scored Manchester City to win the FA Cup after defeating Manchester United.
Pep Guardiola's men won the Manchester derby 2-1 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (June 3). With this victory, City took one step further towards the treble.
Gundwan gave the team the lead just 13 seconds after the start of the fight. City went on the attack quickly after kick-off. Kevin De Bruyne dodged opposition defenders in front of United's D-box to pass to Gundowan. Standing about 20 yards away from the net, the German midfielder scored with a strong right-footed volley. United goalkeeper David de Gea could do nothing but watch.

Man United got a chance to equalize in the 30th minute of the match. City forward Jack Grealish fouled while giving a head in the D-box. Referee VR checks the penalty decision. Bruno Fernandes equalized with a successful spot kick. In the rest of the first half, no one saw a goal in the attack-counter-attack.
However, Gundwan did not wait long to bring the team back to the lead in the second half. In the 52nd minute of the match, the German midfielder took a shot from outside the D-box before De Bruyne's cross from the right wing fell to the ground. De Gea was unable to return the shot despite falling to the right. Man City returned to the lead. Rashford-Fernandes couldn't bring the team back into the fight despite trying hard for the rest of the match. De Bruyne-Holland also could not increase the gap. City secured the 2-1 victory and won the AF Cup title after three years. Earlier, they last won this title in 2018-19 season.
Citizens, who won the Premier League this season, will now wait to win the treble. Their dream will come true only if they beat Inter Milan in the Champions League final on June 10.
