Price Point
By market value, Bitcoin (BTC), the most valuable cryptocurrency in the world, is still trading around $19,000 after Tuesday's low of $18,860. Comparing the cryptocurrency to the rest of the financial markets, it has recently held rather steadily: In a turbulent session on Tuesday, the S&P 500 and Nasdaq both fell, with the latter entering its second bear market of the year.
On Wednesday, U.S. stocks appeared on track for a modest recovery.
Coins appear to be being removed from centralised exchanges, which is typically interpreted as moving the cryptocurrency to storage and indicating that the owners have little intention of selling out of positions anytime soon, according to Bitfinex analysts, who believe that bitcoin may be preparing for a significant price move.
According to data from Bitfinex, the biggest bitcoin outflows in the past three months happened over the course of three days last week (Oct. 1–4).
According to Bitfinex, "this buying pressure probably shows that many traders and investors bought the recent advance and are anticipating soon-to-be new highs."
Laurent Kssis, a crypto trading advisor at CEC Capital, believes the shift will be downward.
