Four drinks maximum per order to prevent binge drinking

Despite pre-tournament assurances from the organisers to keep prices low, football fans will have to fork up around £12 for a drink at the World Cup. In response to worries that certain supporters would overindulge in binge drinking, there will also be a restriction of four drinks per order.
The few hotel bars that are permitted to serve alcohol in Qatar, a devout Muslim nation, normally charge between £12 and $15 for a drink or glass of wine.
Nasser al-Khater, the 2022 World Cup CEO, had previously stated that beer prices for fans would be significantly lower in the fan zones and at stadiums, with other sources estimating that they would be around £7 to £8 per pint.
A 500ml drink of Budweiser, the sole World Cup-approved beer, will cost 50 riyals, or around £11.60, it has been revealed. Water will cost 10 riyals (£2.30) and the non-alcoholic version will cost 30 riyals (£7).
Budweiser has indicated that fans would be limited to "maximum purchase of four Budweiser units per person," who must provide proof that they are over 21 to purchase alcohol. Additionally, fans are advised to "drink wiser, cheer better, and hydrate between Buds."
The company added in its statement: "Budweiser is proud to be served in compliance with the local rules and regulations by Fifa's appointed concessionaire," suggesting that discussions with Fifa and the Qatari government may have taken place before the final pricing policy was decided.
