Twitter speculation drives Dogecoin higher this week, while Bitcoin and Ethereum see gains.

Even as the FTX turmoil continues, ETH increased well. Additionally, Brazilian politicians made a huge advancement toward cryptocurrency regulation.

The biggest currencies had a mixed bag of flatness last week, but this week saw the first concrete evidence of growth after FTX's disastrous descent into bankruptcy.

Bitcoin (BTC) is presently trading for almost $17,000 after increasing 2.7% over the previous seven days. According to information from CoinGecko, its nearest rival Ethereum (ETH) increased 6.7% and is now trading for $1,285 at the time of writing.

After beginning the week on the decline as reports of social upheaval in China shook risk assets like tech stocks and cryptocurrencies, both major cryptocurrencies now look to have started a tiny rebound. Fears that the world's second-largest economy would be interrupted arose from protests over the nation's ongoing severe COVID policies.

On Monday, the market also fell as a result of the bankruptcy filing of cryptocurrency lender BlockFi. Following the demise of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, BlockFi is the most recent in a long line of cryptocurrency businesses to experience contagion.

When Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell stated in a speech that December likely see lower interest rate increases, risk assets rose on Wednesday. This marks the conclusion of a series of increases that was the sharpest since 1994 and included three rises this year, each of 75 basis points.

Despite nearly universal rise among the top currencies, increases were often modest. However, a few of names had accelerated rallies, such as Chainlink (LINK), which increased 11% to $7.59, Uniswap (UNI), which exploded 12% to $6.12, and Polygon (MATIC), which increased 8.4% to $0.922278.

Dogecoin (DOGE) is currently trading at around 10 cents after seeing a startling 21.5% surge.

Elon Musk, the new CEO of Twitter, sent a tweet that included slides from a recent business lecture he gave, which served as the impetus for DOGE's week-long rise. "Payments" is mentioned on one slide, but nothing more is said. However, it was enough to spark the Doge Army's assumption that their preferred coin—which is also Musk's favorite—might serve as Twitter's official digital money.

Lawmakers and regulators sound off on FTX

The area is still being closely watched and discussed by lawmakers throughout the world, especially in the aftermath of this year's two worst disasters: Terra and FTX. The Brazilian Congress went a step farther than most on Monday and enacted a law legalising the use of cryptocurrency for payments for goods and services.

The plan, which still requires presidential approval, defines "payment arrangements" as those that fall under the control of the nation's central bank and covers cryptocurrency and airline ticket benefits.

The European Central Bank issued a devastating study the day after FTX failed, suggesting that Bitcoin's price stability at approximately $20k before to that event may have been "an artificially produced final gasp before the path to irrelevance."

Ulrich Bindseil, the director general of market infrastructure and payments at the ECB, and advisor Jürgen Schaff both make this claim in the blog post, saying that "Bitcoin's conceptual design and technological flaws make it problematic as a means of payment."

favourable to bitcoin In a pre-recorded speech to the Financial Times' Crypto and Digital Asset Summit on Monday, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), who co-sponsors a bipartisan House bill called The Responsible Financial Innovation Act and calls for the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to be the industry's chief regulator, said that FTX's collapse highlights the need for Congress to act.
