The Qatar FIFA World Cup 2022 will soon be here . Football players always hope to compete in the World Cup at least once. Some people are fortunate and reach the main event.
Some people, though, are unlucky and don't play in the world cup. The 2018 World Cup is lacking several notable players, as it does with every edition. ProPakistani has put up a squad of the celebrities who will be missing the 2022 FIFA World Cup owing to injury in yet another special post for the tournament.
Reece James – RB
England's right back is Reece James. The 22-year-old suffered a knee injury while playing for his club last month and will be unable to participate in the FIFA World Cup 2022. He is anticipated to be sidelined for 8 weeks.
Timo Werner – ST
Due to an ankle injury, Timo Werner of Germany will not compete in the major competition. Given the severity of the injury, the 26-year-old will not be able to play again until 2023.
Mike Maignan – GK
Maignan, a goalkeeper for France, competes internationally. He sustained a calf injury while competing for his club, AC Milan, and was unable to board the flight to Qatar. He is anticipated to return in January of the following year.
Sadio Mane – LW
Sadio Mane, a winger for Senegal, will also miss some time due to a leg injury. The dynamic winger underwent surgery, but he won't play at the Qatar World Cup because of his unfinished recovery.
Wesley Fofana – RCB
Wesley Fofana, the centre back for France, will not participate in the major competition because of a knee injury. It should take him around six weeks to recover from his injury.
Diogo Jota – RW
Diogo Jota, a Portuguese winger, had a calf injury that forced him to withdraw from the FIFA World Cup 2022. The right winger's injury is said to be so severe that he might not be able to play again until 2023.
Presnel Kimpembe – LCB
Presnel Kimpembe, a center-back for France, is also unable to play a significant role in the tournament due to a hamstring injury he sustained in October. He has also been told to relax for around six weeks.
Ben Chilwell – LB
The left back for England, Ben Chilwell, will not be participating in the FIFA World Cup 2022 due to a hamstring tendon tear. He'll need about three weeks to return to the field.
Paul Pogba – RCM
Due to his delayed recovery from knee surgery, French midfielder Paul Pogba is expected to miss the mega-event. The 29-year-old had injured his knee in July of this year.
N’Golo Kante – CM
N'Golo Kante, a French midfielder, underwent surgery for a hamstring injury, and as a result, he will not participate in the FIFA World Cup 2022. For around 4 months, the midfielder will be unable to perform.
Georginio Wijnaldum – LCM
Georginio Wijnaldum, a midfielder for the Netherlands, will not participate in the World Cup in Qatar due to a serious leg injury. The midfielder suffered a fractured tibia, and recovery time could be up to six months.
