It is 2nd longest city after Guwahati in lower Assam. The city is one of the commercial and industrial cities in Assam. The area of the town is 14 km². The Asian development bank selected the city on their urban planning list of cities from other countries of Asia. The popular area of the town is Mayapuri, Paglasthan, Dhaligaon, Chapaguri, etc. Hinduism is the major religion in the district. The Bongaigaon refinery is the eighth largest refinery of Indian oil. The refinery produces petroleum product, LPG, MS, SKO, etc. Several local people of Bongaigaon working at Bongaigaon refinery. The city is also famous for marketing. All type of goods gets in the city. By marketing the is connected with Kolkata, Coochbihar, Siliguri, etc. The various public market in the city such as Balaji market, Boro Bazar, Dhaligaon Bazar, China market, etc. Also different types of the shopping mall in the city such as a Big Bazar, Trend, Bazar India. The climate of the town is good. The average temperature of the town is 28° c. The natural beauty of the city is very good. Even if you come to roam Assam, you will definitely visit Bongaigaon Town.
