This land is fertile,
How come food is not here,
Where are the farmers?
Do they have all the time to sleep?
Nay! See them in the rigs,
Excavating the black gold,
And leaving the land plundered,
The man is unable to feed,
Family gone to bed hungry,
Waking up to nothing to feed in,
Tell me what is in store for years to come,
It's up to nothing left in the coffers.
This land is filled with honey,
Milk is an understatement,
How come things took another turn,
The butcher's home is now fed with bones,
Cry of hunger everywhere,
People can see the food but cannot taste it,
How sad it is to taste gravel,
And to see other well-fed,
Yet your table is dry,
We ought to celebrate,
But here we are dehydrated,
Obey the call to serve,
Rather than leave our treasury to the wicked,
And to expound mourning in our land.
